Blogging. What can be more enthralling than to share my pre aliyah experiences with the rest of you guys. Just to give everyone some background on me..Most of you who know me as a person with personality but tend to be shy. I like to get through life without confrontation. However I hate being taken advantage of. So if someone will screw me I won't be shy to let them know. I think they are about 5 weeks left before we leave this country. I say 5 because I'm not counting down. Im not the one who wants to make aliya. I'm there/here for the ride. My thinking/rationale is..We only live once so why not have some excitement. Dont get me wrong..i firmly believe that Stability in life is good and healthy for all families. However in order to achieve stability parents need to feel comfortable with their surroundings. At this time I don't forsee staying in the community I'm presently living in and my husband has been desiring to move back to Israel since we left 5 years ago. So I can say that we are both on the same page that a move is in order. How I agreed to move to Israel is beyond me. But we are well on our way.
Argh just wrote a whole long megillah that didn't get posted!!! B'kitzur- we are excited and looking forward to seeing you here. "Life is a Journey - Travel Light"
ReplyDeletetotally yo!!! Can't wait to see you again!!!
DeleteI think you are very much like your sister, who was not the one who wanted to make aliyah, but went along for the ride with a husband who craved being in Israel. And look at her now!!!:) We wish you and your family hatzlacha and an easy klita. We love living in Israel and so do our kids. It was the best move we have ever made for all of us!!! Looking forward to seeing you here.
ReplyDeletethanks Ilene!! I appreciate your words of encouragement. Will need more of it in the days top come!!
ReplyDeleteIt is important to remember that Israel is NOT America. Don't compare. A lot of the assumptions and realities you have grown up with do not exist here. Things are different. Different does not mean worse. It means different. Indeed, there are many aspects of Israeli society and the culture that we like a lot better than America. Overall, we think life here is far superior for us, for our children, for our spirituality and Jewish identity, and our kids are more independent, more free thinking, more alive here. There are aspects of American culture we would not mind bringing here, as well as some material goods (i.e. Toyota Sienna, scrapbooking supplies, Target), and so, with each aliyah, the olim make changes to the melting pot that is Israel.
